Great Wolf Lodge: In the past 18 months, Frisco has seen a boom in new attractions. The most recent is Great Wolf Lodge Texas which opened its doors on September 28th to much fanfare. This water park resort offers everything from lazy river raft rides and wave pools to whitewater rapids and an outdoor beach with sandcastles for kids of all ages. I had the opportunity to speak with Director of Operations John Linkous about this amazing “destination within Dallas” as they call it.
Great Wolf Lodge is a great destination for those who are looking to spend the day with family and friends. It offers everything from fun rides that you don't find at many other amusement parks in Dallas, to water slides of all shapes and sizes, an interactive toddler area called Cub Club where parents can go drop their kids off while they enjoy some time on their own.
Visitors should also note that Great Wolf Lodge has one restaurant - The Loose Moose Family Kitchen - which serves breakfast lunch and dinner as well as alcoholic beverages (beer & wine only). Outside food is not permitted inside the resort so plan accordingly. There are two swimming pools available for use: A lazy river pool with zero entry points perfect for toddlers or families looking to take a break from the water slides and an outdoor pool with two slides.
Great Wolf Lodge is also the tallest building in Frisco at 18 stories high, which means that guests get to enjoy some of the best views of downtown Dallas. There are plenty more attractions on site for those who want to stay longer too including a ropes course, bowling alley, arcade games and live entertainment such as story time around campfires daily at 11 am or dance parties every night after dinner until 12 midnight.
The costs associated with staying overnight at Great Wolf Lodge are as follows:
The cost for an overnight stay is $229/night with a two night minimum required.
Things to do in Frisco, TX outside of the resort - there's plenty more attractions on site such as a ropes course, bowling alley, and arcade games which offer guests endless hours of fun that you won't find at many other amusement parks in Dallas.
You can also spend time around campfires daily where story time takes place from 11 am or dance parties every night after dinner until 12 midnight!
Tips for first timers: it may be helpful to plan your trip according to when different attractions will have their peak season opening dates. In September 2017 we're seeing the ribbon cutting of the Wolf Lodge, which is a hotel with an indoor waterpark that's part of Dallas.
Things to do in Frisco aside from water parks - there are plenty more attractions on site such as rope course, bowling alley and arcade games.
